Generally, the protagonist is the one that charms us the most, but once in a while, certain side characters gather our attention and the next thing we know is we want more of them. Here’s my pick of some amazing side characters that were as good as the lead!

1) Gerri Kellman from Succession

Gerri Kellman, the general counsel, and interim CEO at Waystar Royco is the character we didn’t know we needed until she became the internet’s favorite. She is the absolute perfection of intelligence and diplomacy.

Her presence is always impactful, be it in the boardroom where she makes the smartest decision atone died in Japan at the satellite launch. And of course, the exotic relationship of Gerri and Roman is the cherry on top.

2) Tywin Lannister from Game Of Thrones

Though the Lannisters were supposedly the villains in the show, we couldn’t help but admire Tywin Lannister. The ruthless patriarch was as cunningly intelligent as he was brave. We have a love-hate relationship with him, we hate him when constantly belittles Tyrion and love him when he is the only one who can make Cersei lick the dust.

From him serving as the hand of the Targaryen Mad King to serving as the hand of the Baratheon(or Lannister) Mad King, he became the most powerful man in Westeros.

3) Ronnie from Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek had an amazing main as well as supporting cast, and the one that stands out for me is Ronnie (aka Veronica, exactly, I also didn’t know that’s her name). Not a very big fan of the Roses initially, she meets them with some witty greetings. With her hilarious being and insights, she makes her screen presence so entertaining that we feel her role should have been greater.

The fact that describing the character has me recall the funny encounters and makes me laugh meanwhile, is enough to declare her as the best comic side character.

4) Jessica Pearson from Suits

The boss lady of the TV shows, no other character has been written as strong and bold as hers. The name partner at Pearson Hardman, a top New York law firm, Jessica Person is the powerhouse of ambition that radiates perfection of knowledge and determination.

She’s unapologetically herself in every way, from decisions of takedowns to choosing her style, she is the ideal corporate badass on screen. And what makes her extraordinary is that she is the only one who never abstains from showing Harvey and Mike their places.

5) Eric from Sex Education

A bundle of humor, style, and emotions, all packed in one is how I describe Eric. Otis’s gay best friend, who got bullied by Adam for most of the time, later realizes he had feelings for his abuser while dating Rahim.

It’s an utter delight to watch him, with all the tension of him being unable to open up to his family about his identity to enjoying his best life with Otis and his shift in approach towards himself after his Nigerian trip. Although it was devastating to see Adam-Eric break up, Eric’s future journey to find himself will provide a new dimension to himself.

6) Sherry Conrad from YOU

The local momfluencer of Madre Linda Sherry along with her 6% body fat husband Carry Conrad, stole the show in season 3. I’m not saying I didn’t love the next-level psychotic duo of Joe and Love but this suburb socialite queen provided just the right invigoration the show needed.

Sherry’s character, which appeared shallow in the beginning proved the opposite by the end of the season. The whole situation where they were trapped in the famous killer cage brings out the real her who is clever and loyal.

7) Erica from Stranger Things

The American sci-fi horror fiction became an instant hit among the viewers. While all the children starring in the show did a phenomenal job, Erica- Lucas’ sister is the apt representation of ‘Big things come in small packages’ .

The cool and nerdy 10-year-old with witty and savage comebacks make her the most entertaining one on the show. We see her terrific quick wit genius when she is tasked with the main plan at the end of the season. Erica is my spirit animal and an icon. Period.

While I mentioned only 7 characters in the list, there might be many other characters too that proved to be no less than the main group in delivery, comic, and entertainment.
